Relativistic prediction of the ground state of atomic Lawrencium
نویسندگان
چکیده
2014 In contradiction to the prediction of the Periodic Table but in agreement with earlier suggestions by Brewer and Mann, the ground state configuration of atomic Lawrencium (Z = 103) will not be 7s2 6d 2D3/2 but 7s2 7p 2P1/2. The reason for this deviation from normal trends across the Periodic Table are strong relativistic effects on the outermost 7p1/2 orbital. Multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock calculations are reported for Lawrencium and analogous lighter atoms. These calculations include contributions from magnetic and retardation interactions and an estimation of quantum electrodynamic corrections. J. Physique 41 (1980) 943-946 SEPTEMBRE 1980,

Upper bounds to atomic electron densities in position and momentum spaces
Modified functions r−αρ(r) and p−β (p) of the spherically averaged electron densities ρ(r) in position space and (p) in momentum space are found to be convex (i.e., the second derivatives are nonnegative everywhere) for all the 103 ground-state atoms from hydrogen (atomic number Z = 1) to lawrencium (Z = 103), if the parameters are chosen to be α 0.6 and β 1.4. The convex property of r−αρ(r) an...
متن کاملCalculation of the low-lying level structure of trans-einsteinium elements
Spectroscopic investigations on the super-heavy elements (SHE) are of fundamental interest in understanding the nuclear, atomic and chemical properties of isotopes near to the border of the nuclear chart. For the transeinsteinium elements, of course, many of these case studies were initiated and performed in order to predict the properties of yet undiscovered isotopes and in the hope of finding...
متن کاملStam ’ s principle D - dimensional uncertainty - like relationships and some atomic properties
Several D-dimensional uncertainty-like relationships for N-body systems are obtained by means of the Fisher's information entropies in position and momentum spaces and the Stam's uncertainty principle. In addition, these relationships, the Fisher's entropies and the Stam's inequality are analysed numerically for all ground state neutral atoms from hydrogen (Z ˆ 1) to lawrencium (Z ˆ 103) using ...
متن کاملA fully relativistic Dirac–Hartree–Fock and second-order Mo” ller–Plesset study of the lanthanide and actinide contraction
Fully relativistic four-component self-consistent field and correlated calculations at the Mo”ller– Plesset second-order perturbation theory level ~MP2! have been performed for the monofluorides and monoand trihydrides of lanthanum, lutetium, actinium, and lawrencium. The calculated spectroscopic constants are in good agreement with available experimental data. The calculated bond lengths have ...
متن کاملThe Two-Photon Decay of 1s2s 1S0 States
In He-like systems the decay of the 1s2s S0 excited state to the 1s S0 ground state is not allowed. This excited state can only decay to the ground state via the emission of two photons. The spectral shape of the emitted continuum is determined by the complete structure of the atomic system as all bound and continuum P states contribute to the 2E1 decay. For very heavy atomic systems the P stat...
